Got my nice shiny new printer on friday.Much better. It will be even better when everybody has them and we change to blank paper,so you don't have to load each sheet individually, just fill the drawer with paper and forget about it. ;D

What make / model? I assume black only? The letter sent to VTS mentions EPSON. Probably EPSON Aculaser M2000 series at a guess.

It is indeed an epson. It's so much faster and the print quality is excellent, much better than the old model.

They are getting something right then. Really?? For around 6 years customers have been getting nice green pass certs (green for go), perhaps red fails (not much doubt what red means) or amber (caution) advise sheets. Now its to be just black on white. I hope when its on plain paper it says FAIL in mega large lettering else the average punter isn't going to realise its a fail and think their car has passed until you have spent 5 mins explaining the new "improved" certs.

May be worth investing in a red, green and orange hi-lighter pen set

just a thought printing a vt40 will the printer print 2 pages or both sides ? According to www.epson.co.uk/Printers-and-All-In-Ones/Laser/Epson-AcuLaser-M2400D-Series/Overview"Save paper - Automatic double-sided printing" So I expect one sheet but tell you what, the 8000 prints per toner will be at the standard 5% coverage and if we are printing all the info currently on a VT20 etc I bet it will be more than 5% Added at edit - and the initial toner supplied is only good for 2000 pages.

In other words you have to buy the toner for 8000 sheets after the intrim print run? If I were paying for them and the chip is available, Cartridge World refill does it for me ;D

A dot matrix ribbon fades, but is still readable for quite a number of pages.
A laser printer's output won't fade. It will just start printing with blank areas on the page. A little shake of the toner rectifies it for a little while, though.
It would be worth keeping a new toner cartridge in the VTS ready for the day it's needed...

Do Welsh VTSs have to buy twice as many toners and twice as much paper than their English counterparts ? Previously the bilingual forms were preprinted, but now the printer will have to print it all.
