First time for everything I suppose, they must be getting to that age now. The front subframe shown is from a Corsa C where the steering rack is mounted. I have always been of the opinion that VOSA said subframes and suspension components are not to be welded, is that the case, as in my view here if a professional welder repaired this subframe I could not see why it should be a problem? I emailed VOSA regards the attachment previously, they emailed me back and agreed with me that provided a good quality repair using the same gauge material was used that it would be acceptable to repair the subframe, therefore saving the customer a few hundred pounds for a new one.

I know this is an old post but others will read it , i was informed when i asked vosa man that if the component is originally made from pressed steel and welds then its fine to repair as long as its a good repair and as strong as original , but if made from cast steel then not to be repaired by weld
