Worked yesterday. Logged on to VTS device and got a file download from "SIEMENS". Could be a bad Monday yet again!!! Brilliant, really looking forward to monday morning again, the fact that we were not told about this file download, a lot of garages will have switched there pc of, so we all know what will happen tomorow morning when the so many thousand stations log on and the file starts to download slowing the system down till it goes belly up again. This situation is just getting rediculous now, and vosa are going to have to take notice before everyone loosing money starts looking for compensation. Gordon

At recent MOT seminar the role out boss from vosa said that emergency testing numbers will be issued as soon as the help desk lines become blocked. He said that is was difficult for them to know how wide spread problems are, but he apologised for recent events. I dont understand why Vosa dont get up to date with communications.Vosa staff use a new thing called text messaging to get ET references without having to dial in every 10 mins to find out wats going on as we have to. there is also another new new thing called e mail that they could use to advise us of any problems when the system is down. The thing to do is hound them with calls to your local office, help desk, ve mobiles and vosa head office when you have a problem . if we all do the same they may just get the message !!

Worked yesterday. Logged on to VTS device and got a file download from "SIEMENS". Could be a bad Monday yet again!!! If Moday is a crash day because of that then they are even bigger idiots than we thought. As I said earlier in the thread they should say "First W/E in the month leave your computer on for any downloads we may want to distribute." So easy for everyone to remember that! To be honest if the system crashes again this Monday I'm just going to carry on testing and enter the results when its back on line, If that means I have 4/5 tests recorded in one hour then tough. we are experiencing a problem that causes the screen to freeze when entering failure items and using the nearside, offside, front rear selection boxes. The only way to proceed is to remove the smart card and then log back in. You then find the failure items are listed but usually incorrectly. The help desk are aware of this problem and say they are working on it. It can be very frustrating trying to list multiple failure lists. Has any one else noticed this problem?

In reply to Stokers observation, Yes, I have also had this happen several times, it started after the update on March 20 and I have made the helpdesk aware of the problem. As Stoker correctly advises, to "unfreeze" the system simply pullout your smart card and re-log on, you should then be able to continue as normal. Also since the last update I have had to reset the printers "micro adjust" setting so that the text is printed centrally (vertically) in the appropriate boxes, having done this all the documents now print correctly without having to hit the "line feed" button on the VT30's and VT32's. Another little gripe is that the year range drop down box has on several occasions not included the one covering the vehicle you are testing, for example today I had a "Y" reg VW Passat which everybody knows could only cover March to August 2001, the highest option given to me was 04/1998 to 10/1999 (which I chose) being the nearest, when the VT40 was printed the date of first use appeared as 06/04/2001, so the system knew when the car was first used, so why did it ask me a stupid question to which it already knew the answer??? Sorry to ramble on lads, but it can be very frustrating when you dealing with a thicko machine, Oh! you all say " the machine is only as thick is its programer" ( Siemens), I REST MY CASE!!!
