Well at gone 5.15 we still could not clear cards etc.
In the latest copy of "Maters of Testing" it says 90% of garages are satisfied with the system and 80% would not want to go back. Bet they dare not do a satisfaction survey tomorrow. ;D

hi when et had been declared before each test you are suppposed to check to see if the system is running again time again just sitting there waiting for comunication addy Which REALLY helps reduce the load on the system. The stupid thing is you could go to other functions >> Emergency testing >> system check and it would come up that the system was OK. Try to log in for a test or clear a card... NO chance. This ET procedure wants looking at. Its their incompetance but we are suffering as many predicted once SIEMENS were awarded the contract. Graham

Emergency testing procedure as I understand it... 1) Obtain incident number from helpdesk/recorded message 2) Carry out test 3) If its a pass - issue certificate from emergency testing pad 4) If its a fail issue a handwritten VT30 5) Occasionally check to see if system is back on 6) Issue handwritten paperwork to customers if they collect there vehicles before system is back on. 7) When it comes back on, enter all tests done under emergency testing. 8) Site manager has to verify all emergency tests have been entered. 9) When customers return to collect proper VT20's (system will not re-issue VT30's once its back on.) Convert handwritten emergency certificates into computer printed copies. 10) When failures (issued under emergency testing) are retested you will have to enter them as full tests as you will not have a test number or emergency certificate number for them. You will then be able to go back in and enter test results, although this will flag up a "quick test" you will have paperwork to verify that the original test was done under emergency testing so VOSA will not take any action. We had more than a day full of tests lined up today.
Startup procedure took a little longer than usual, but eventually connected. The first test registered OK, too.
Then problems started. The first tester couldn't issue a certificate at the end of the test. Phoned Siemens - no indication of ET at that time, but another VTS phoned us to ask if we were having Computerisation problems because they couldn't register a test.
Phoned Siemens again, this time there was the 'Partial Emergency Testing invoked' message.
The tester tried again to issue the certificate, but the device gave a fatal error message & locked the test on his card!
A second tester managed to register the next test on the VTS device, while tester 1 issued an ET certificate when the Site Manager broke open the ET pack.
Tester 2 then couldn't get his certificate printed, so he too issued an ET VT20. They both then tested the next vehicles under ET, each time trying to see if computerisation had come back.
When the Site Manager checked, the system reported that MOT Computerisation was working. But the testers were unable to get a response when they tried registering or entering results!
Then tester 2 tried again, and managed to print out his first test of the day. The customer received a printed VT20 instead of the ET document. Tester 2 tried entering the other test, but the computer failed to connect again.
The Siemens helpdesk number is a waste of time. We spend ages listening to all the options, only to be told that all operators are busy and to try again later!
Tester 1 couldn't get the test off his card, and called back to the VTS at 8.30pm to see if he could get through to Siemens. Despite spending over an hour on the phone, he couldn't get through. He intends to try again at 6am to see if he can get through then...

Total muck up as we first tried to up date the RBT cal cert. Then it all went it to some other orbit. The whole lot crashed. Tomorrow will be interesting in more ways than one no doupt. Taply to the rescue and ET it seems.

It's been a real pain in the ar$e day, we were fully booked but I got all my tests done. We are also fully booked tomorrow, God knows when I'll find the time to enter all the tests when the system is up and running. Can the AE do it?

I don't see why the system wouldn't "swap" certificates after all ET tests have been submitted. Regards DaveH

Emergency testing procedure as I understand it...1) Obtain incident number from helpdesk/recorded message 2) Carry out test 3) If its a pass.......... Thanks for that Dave. We got very litte told on the training day about it. As far as I know there has not been anything in Matters of Testing or a SN about ET. We went live in November and haven't had anyone in from the VI to see how we are getting on/any questions. Graham
