I've decided to only book half the usual amount of tests for 24 April (ie 1 every 2 hours instead of 1 per hour). After reading the message informing me of the next update that is scheduled for weekend of 22-23 April, I think that it is a good idea not to have the usual full workload for a Monday.
As all test stations are supposed to now be computerised, I think this update will be a BIG one and probably cause headaches all round. I'm going to use the spare time to give my workshop a well deserved spring clean & possibly crack open a tin of emulsion. Anything is better than sitting at the end of a telephone trying to get through to Si & Vo if the previous update fiascos are anything to go by.
ps Question: Mot Computerisation has supposedly gone through major trials & is supposed to contain no faults (the software does all Vosa told Siemens to make it do), yet why are we continually having updates to the 'perfect' system ?

Doesn't sound like a bad idea!
Going on their track record, system failures have been occuring the Monday after an upgrade.
As for the updates, it would be interesting to know what has been altered/improved/added at each upgrade.

Unfortunatly thats a no go for us, garages up here are booked solid at least 2 weeks in advance already. Customers coming in every day desperate for an MOT saying everywhere they try are booked up no slots avalible. We thought March was just a busy month with first tests but seems to be continuing. I think with everyone online now this is how it's going to be for the future. I for one am not complaining for the overtime these past few weeks has been fantastic also means we have no time for the dreaded timing belt & head gasket jobs so allowing us to pick and choose for a change leave someone else to do the crap.

Greetings everyone, looks like everything is okay(ish) on MOT Comp and generating good business (spanner) although my Brother whinged at me because it cost him £88 in MOT fees. Tom, I haven't seen a VTS Device for 8 weeks now but I'm sure if you hit F6 and look through all those menu options there's one that provides upgrade news. -- Roger (who)

Yes Roger I had a look at update news this afternoon, doesn't tell you much. Does say the data base has been updated with some newer cars that were not on VSI search before etc and some special notices now on there also.

4 done & dusted 3 to go. All seems fine, noticed a couple of slight changes but nothing to worry about.

Can't log-on either.
Help-line goes dead after recorded messages.
Pathetic.

Same here, too... The system is just 'hanging'. I pressed the monitor button on the fax machine which shares the MOT computer phone line, and heard: 'there is a fault with this line, please try again later'Got a full day of tests today, too

At least we got an emergency number pretty sharp this time. Let me complete the test I had registered and customer was happy enough.

I have 2 testers logged in but cannot log out............. We did a couple filling in the ET procedure but when I tried to convert them to pass certs the system told me that the ET number (given via the helpdesk) does not exit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A total cockup. We are just testing now and keeping the V40's to eventually enter and pass/fail enblock, one after another once the system will let us in. Graham

I decided to keep calling the help desk every half hour this afternoon to see if the message had changed any but it was still the same. At 16:30 thought sod it I'll just try the system and see - it was working. Managed to clear my card - enter emergency test results - confirm them. Boss has one logged in now and staying behind to log it out any time now.
Question is how long has it been back and why wasnt the helpdesk message changed?
