I found that when replacing et certificates, system will not add extra days and no facility to do so. Gord As far as I can see there is no PRS facility when entering the ET results either. Graham

Right
I've had enough of this now.... one minute it works and then it doesn't and as for trying to get through to the helpdesk............
My machine is turned off, and I'm solely on emergency testing until someone tells me the system is ok.
Because of the backlog caused by two and a half days of grief, I'm gonna be busy till saturday. I will enter the ET results when I can (and sod the ansafone message advising us to do all them either before 8am or after 6pm). If anyone says anything about it possibly being over the 5 days or whatever it is, then tough!
I can't wait for the next round of council meetings - I have a feeling I'm gonna be rather vocal. It would help if anyone can send me a few examples of the time/business/money lost over this fiasco which I can go into the meeting armed with.

Cripes, any one with the old vt12 register and the vt30 we have. eighty completed so far with the ET certs given as the mot cert. Our Com fell on the floor making room for the old pads! keep going and let VOSA sort and enter in there own time as they have not forfilled there side of the bargin in more ways than one as we have had to from the start.

We managed to get 4 through today but it's really slow in connecting.
Boss has details of a test stuck on his card from trying to issue a printed version of an ET. System says no record so he decided to enter ET results again and message said car not due for test. He went to abort it and can't as it says no record of a test on card - yet when he go's to register another it says a test is in progress. Try to syncronise card and it gives details of ET vehicle and to complete test on the vts device or by fallback. Wont let him complete test and been on phone nearly all afternoon and got no answer from anyone.
Up untill this fiasco I've been pleased with the system because we've always escaped any downtime but now my heads thumping with it all.

Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday, ended up with my card locked up. Best thing to do is either...wait until next day when all unfinshed tests have been "cleared" off the system overnight and syncronise your card first thing in the morning...or ring the helpdesk up when you are at home, about 9.00pm and get them to clear your card then.

hi a qoute from the vosa website the claim address looks good
27-04-06 Computerised MOT Testing disruption (updated 5.15pm) What it means for Motorists Motorists can get their vehicles MOT tested even when there are disruptions to the computerised system service. Affected garages are able to continue testing using a paper-based contingency system developed by VOSA specifically for such circumstances. The motorist receives a paper based certificate if the computerised certificate is not available. Both types of certificate computerised and paper-based are valid proof of the test.
Motorists can relicense their vehicle at a Post Office or online. Motorists with a paper-based certificate will not be able to relicense their vehicle online until the garage has been able to access the computerised system. In these cases motorists will need to relicense their vehicles at the Post Office. Motorists will need to take their paper-based testing certificate along with any necessary insurance details with them when they go to the Post Office.
What it means for Garages A number of MOT garages have been experiencing difficulties with the MOT computer system during the past few days. Garages are able to continue to test using Emergency Testing and should continue to use ET code 6212380. The underlying problem is currently being resolved and full service will resume as soon as possible.
Latest Position As at 4.00pm, 27 April 2006 over 90% of garages are online.
Once the system is fully working garages which have experienced difficulties will update the system with pass and fail details to ensure an accurate database of vehicles is maintained.
MOT garages who feel that they have suffered financial loss as a result of the disruption have recourse to a compensation procedure. They should write with full details to:- MOT Service Management, Vehicle and Operator Services Agency, Unit 8 Woodlands Court, Almondsbury Business Park, Bristol, BS32 4LB. addy

Same happening for me, system fine one minute then no comms. Managed to get through to help desk because a test was stuck on vosa but not on card or my terminal, guy said all test's in limbo will automatically be wiped at 10pm every night while this fiasco is happening. Also said I should not try to use machine until Tuesday.
Vosa and siemens need to sort this out, the test in limbo has happend to us before when we had a power cut, had to go through help desk to get it wiped. I asked to speak to tech guy who informed me that the system loses the test when power lost as a security feature, they do this on purpose!, we need an easier way to resolve this problem other than wasting half a morning getting through to siemens.

I managed to get the old test off my card by aborting it, and then synchronising. I've been able to test properly all day even though the comms were very slow. I started entering the 26 emergency tests on catch up at 16.45 and finished at 18.30.

Dread to think what our phone bills going to be after the time I spent on it this afternoon. Last time I had to phone them was on my mobile so I could sort a problem with their advice and cost me £20 for half an hour!
Was hoping it would wipe the card clear by morning so whats been said sounds good. Funny you should mention that as yesterday afternoon I had one stuck on my card and this morning I thought I'd be able to enter the results and print the pass but said there was no current tests on my card. Fingers crossed bosses cards clear in morning.
If they're telling some people not to try untill next week isn't it time they sent us all a message telling us to STOP until further notice. May give them a chance to sort things out.

Well, not much change here.
Took at least 20 minutes to go through start up this morning. Luckily only one test for today, but system is dead slow. Takes ages to connect and then hangs for a while, if lucky it eventually connects. What an absolute joke, how long have we to suffer this nonsense before something is done about this totally inadequate system.
Glad its the holiday weekend and not back to work until Tuesday of next week. Hopefully they will be able to sort this mess out by then.

I tried to log on a test and waited for ages, went away to make a coffee, and it was still trying to connect. We're fully booked up with MOT's until Thursday of next week, I need a holiday after all this crap.

RE. 26/4 Do vosa & seimans realise how stressfull this is & that testers do take their problems home. The job is hard enough anyway, and we all know that you are only as good enough as your last test. I think vosa should cut us some slack & instead of going home with red eyes & headaches concentrate on testing!
