Has anyone noticed any useful improvements to the computer system after each periodic download & update?
I have noticed that the “Date of first use” is now noted on a VT30 albeit in a different format, but nevertheless it's there. You no longer have to rely on the VT40 print out.
There is an option to print your messages that was not there previously. A giant leap hey!!
Funny how the big message about leaving your card in for three minutes, was introduced last time. Strange that it became all too relevant over the days that followed. Conspiracy.....?
Doesn't the system seem really good now that it's working properly!
Cheers all!

Doesn't the system seem really good now that it's working properly! Yes and no. I still think the system is too slow, it might not seem a lot to wait three minutes to connect but that's a possible six minutes wait for every MOT. If you are fully booked that's the best part of an hour each day, just waiting for the system to connect to the servers. I know for a fact that this morning it'll be reasonably slow, as a lot of MOT stations are open, but after two o'clock the system will speed up as the majority of you lucky buggers get to watch the cup final, while I'll stiil be testing.

Hi Rob
I was being sarcastic mate!
Its crap by any standards. It just seems better after it didn't work at all!
I tried to print off a relevant section from the "Testers Guide" recently. It took nearly four minutes to print one page. The bit I was interested was on the last page (page 5) & I aborted the print. Later when my tester wanted to print a VT20, the printer carried on printing the pages I had cancelled onto a pass certificate. Nice one!
The system may have been state of the art about 8 years ago. I suppose they stuck with this old stuff because of its stability. Good call hey!
Back to the point of the thread. Are there any improvements that anyone has spotted that the updates have given us?
Regards
Dave

Are updates designed to bring improvements? I'm sure they are to "TRY" to fix the errors embedded in the original.

I was being sarcastic mate! Fair enough, in my defence it was very early in the morning when I replied. To be brutally honest, if the current system is the best Siemens can come up with in the time they've had and going so far over budget, God help us all. VOSA have to have some share of the blame, whoever came up with a lot of the wording for the fail and advise criteria needs shooting. Giving an advise on slight play in a wheel bearing makes you sound like a retard.
