hi chaps, this might be my error but.... i passed a car today, in the car was a new style vt20 expiring today so obviously the customer wanted a post date of one day grrrrrrrr. so i typed in expiry date & pc asked me for old certificate no.hmmmm. tried old test no.-no good.. rang my local area office.. they said issue a pass without a post date then do a replacement & alter the date...... tried that & it still asked me for the old certificate no? i should add this new style cert was a duplicate of an old style one. anyway, time marched on, loads to do, so i issued a pass with no post date-customer hasnt noticed! (yet) cheers, yanno

The problem lies with the different lengths of the old serial number and the new test number. The system will only accept the shorter old-type serial number. This is no doubt down to the programmers only expecting NTs to enter serial numbers from hand written VT20s, and not from duplicates issued during computerisation. When computerisation is running full steam, then the expiry date will be generated by the test record held in the system. The workaround given to Nominated Testers who have raised this query is to enter the V5 reference number instead... See the following link: Expiry date problem (computerised duplicate)
