We must fail about 4 or more Mercedes E & C class front lower ball joints at week if you jack them up where you should do under the lower wishbones you find the problem, if under the body you wont feel a thing ( where a 2 post ramp would lift them)

hey silver ya i have done so many of them the only way to check them are with a long pry bar so against the bottom shocker poking on the ball joint

How much play? IIRC vsi says design feature of up to 1mm is allowed, any more fail it

Like you said have to be jacked under front suspension arms otherwise no play found quite a common fault.

I'm not too keen in jacking them under the arms as if you look as you jack them they start to flex as they are alloy or mag. You can soon find wear and tear jacking them elsewhere...............
