Re SN 4-2011
Sites that took part in the Laser Printer Trial may not require a replacement as described above.
You will be responsible for the purchase of future toner cartridges. Replacement black toner cartridges will be available via the MOT Computerisation catalogue at a price of £92.20 + VAT each. It is expected that a toner cartridge will produce approximately 8,000 sheets of A4.
Anybody got any info on the trial, what machines are being supplied. Assuming there will be a lot of printing on the sheet (logo's, information, legal notice's etc) as well as anything we fail/advise on, 8000 sheets seems VERY high. Most laser printer cartridges are quoted as being good for far far less than this.
If, as I expect, we get much less than 8000 printouts £92.20 + VAT per replacement it is going to work out expensive TO US. Remember that dot matrix ribbons were always available FOC. Considering Siemens are going to bulk buy on these it looks like its going to be a nice little profit earner for them at our expense.

When I was at the last Council Meeting I advised that Cartridge World would re-fill them for less, the VOSA guy said that he didn't hear that ;D
But if you are footing the bill, which would you do?

Note of caution & I forget where I read or heard it, but there is the possibility that Siemens will withraw support on printer issues/problems if you buy your supplies from elsewhere. Wether or not they could enforce it remains to be seen.

I think those ideas are dead in the water from siemens side of things, there has been so much case law and legislation now preventing restrictive practices, that the market is a free place. If the toner was to become damaged, well that is a different issue, but for a refil, personally I can't see a problem

Would be good to know the model of the printer or cartridge number? I'm sure you could save money by having them refilled Anyone know who the trial VTS were?
