I got a tip from one of my testers on getting landrover braking systems into their 'bedding cycle' for testing. I tried yesterday when I had a range rover and a discovery in for MOT and thought it worth passing on. Where the VSI tells you to fully depress the footbrake pedal three times then apply the park brake four times and let it off three times, it can take several tries for success. ifyou only press the footbrake twice it works every time

These Land Rovers (Range Rovers) can be difficult to select bedding cycle as I have experienced. The other day I had one in for test, which was difficult. I have here the exact VSI instructions.
VSI says;
Bring the vehicle to rest on level ground.
Apply the EPB
Fully apply the brake pedal THREE TIMES, HOLD on THIRD application. (This must be within 10 seconds)
Whilst maintaining pressure on the foot brake PULL the EPB switch FOUR TIMES in a row and then
PRESS three times in a row, (This must be within 20 seconds)
MODE selection will be indicated on the instrument display panel by a FLASHING RED LIGHT and a mode selection message;
Park Brake Bedding Cycle ACTIVE
Interestingly this procedure has only ever worked once in my experience, so I often wonder about how quick one should be when applying and releaing the switch and whether a slight delay between each operation should be allowed?
In my last experience following the above procedure, the EPB did not function as intended, so not by constructive decision making, but just by switching off the ignition then starting the vehicle again, I noticed that the instrument display Bedding Cycle became active.
So whether there is a fault on this individual vehicle, or I am not quite doing something correct I am not yet quite sure, but on this occassion it WORKED ;D

One might think since so many of us are having problems, Landrover could revisit this system and perhaps modify it to work as intended
