Hello, I have owned my motorbike since 2006,it was a year old when i bought it.It had its first mot in 2008 and every year after with no problems. The bike's been for sale for a couple of months, someone saw it, hpi checked it and the only problem was the chassis number. one digit is different on the log book compared to the number on the frame. The only thing i could think of was that it had been an error when it was first registered.I sent some photo's of my chassis number on my bike to dvla and explained the problem. Today i received a new registration certification with the correct chassis number.
The problem now is the mot certificate (mot was last month) has the wrong number on it. Will i need to mot it again or could i get it changed some how?

Hi gtipaul,
welcome to the forum.
Your best bet is to ring VOSA on 0300 123 9000. Ask their advice it may be that they can alter the details on the VT20 and issue a duplicate for you, or DVLA may be able to change the details and issue a duplicate. I am sure one of them should be able to help you, nothing to loose, give them a ring.

hi paul, if the chassis number is wrong on the VT20 then that could be down to the tester who tested your bike as it looks like he input the details of the bike from documents you presented at test time which he is not supposed to do in case they are wrong as in your situation. what he should have done is taken the chassis number from the bike and used that, the computer would show no match and then he could make up a new record for the bike using all the correct details and then the VT20 would have the right chassis number on it.this is my opinion if i am reading your post correctly. as Dave said VOSA or DVLA can sort it out for you

I agree that the Tester could change and make a new record as I have done this, but based on my last refresher course my understanding of the trainers view with regards testers, he was of the mind that testers are not even selecting the right vehicles for test in some cases to date, so changing records is probably like watching SPACE 1999 back in the 1970's LOL ;D Dave
