Hi Guys, Had a Renault Clio in today, the master cylinder as they always are cannot see the brake fluid level for dirt. Had to wipe it clean to see fluid level which was OK. Inspecting underside of car and looked up at lower side of brake servo to see the picture shown. The brake performance test was next to perfect, the brake pedal did not feel springy or spongy, the fluid level had not been overfilled, what decision would you have made? Daveg Attachments:

I didn't find any excessive corrosion to the servo, although there was surface corrosion, I agree with you regarding the leak, my view was the rear master cylinder seal has definately deteriorated. My gaffer took the view the master cylinder fluid reservoir had been overfilled, but i didn't agree the reservoir and cap were completely covered in dirt, never been touched in a long time. Definate fail for me also.

I couldn't reach it with the CAT, but I could with a long screw driver where careful scraping indicating sound metal.

I will have a look through testers manual to advise further, but I was advised by a trainer many moons ago that where the CAT could not get, then using a screw driver to carefully scrape corrosion and effected areas was permissible, but no stabbing allowed.

I read the same thing somewhere , possibly in the manual

I read the same thing somewhere , possibly in the manual Found it Appendix C page 1 section 5, highly stressed components says; a small screw driver may be used to push and probe in places inaccessible to the corrosion assessement tool , does this mean then that we can PUSH and Probe with the Corrosion Assessment Tool
