Well I assume we have all printed off the new number plate regs from the VTS device...... What a pain. 6 pages on that dot matrix printer.
19,000 test stations have to do this.
19000 x 6 = 114,000 pages 114,000 pages = 228 Quires of paper = 45 of those boxes we see at Staples (assuming they keep that much.......
Estimated time ~20 mins to print out 19000 x 20mins = 380,000 mins 380,000 mins = 6333 hours = 158 weeks (40hours/week)
So between us we have lost 1 man working THREE years...
No doubt, in a few weeks we will receive the proper replacement pages from VOSA, What a waste.

Best not to think of that kind of things Graham ;D I just took note this week at how many plates would fail under the new criteria - failure rate going to go through the roof How many times we going to hear the " but it passed last year" or " can you let it go I'll say I changed them after the test" how many testers will turn a blind eye knowing full well plates be changed as soon as it leaves garage? Just look at how many illegal plates are on the road, many you see every day on way to work and you've been seeing them for long enough so what are police doing about it? Nothing too much paper work for them so down to us muggs again

I failed a car this morning for front brake imbalance and advised the owner that his plates would have failed had the new regulations come in already (Ford logo on the plate and incorrect font). He's bringing it back for retest on Monday apparently, I hope he takes my advice on changing his plates.

That one will be interesting Rob, bet he comes out with "but it's a partial re-test on items failed" Once again the garages will be the bad guys

Has anybody noticed. . The system notes Date of Reg in the no plate section and changes the fail options available .
Pre sept 2001 option for
" not displaying post code/ supplying dealer/ bs145 code"
vanish by magic !!!
But the system cant tell if a car is newer than 1933 in the tyre section !!
Dont get me wrong, it is a step in the right direction. Lets hope other sections can be updated with date related fail options only.
