Hi all. What do all you testers think of the new screen layouts??. I personally hate them, find them counter productive and time wasting. Having to scroll through to the bottom before you can enter the next RFR or advisory is a right pain!!. Having got used to the original screens which I thought were reasonably efficient, some pratt at siemens does'nt read rule number one ie, if it aint busted dont fix it, instead the pratt has gone for the alternative and keeps fixing it till it is busted. I have found no advantage to the new sreen layouts, who are they aimed at??, not us users/testers I think as it now takes MUCH longer to enter the test results. Another gripe is the enter results screen defaulting to the trike/quad box instead of the mileage box, come on Siemens, these vehicles are very rare so why throw an unneccessary question at us?? Lets have the default back on the mileage box please.
Regards Henry.

Did everyone read the message sent out today? They're going to revert back to the old style when the next release comes out. Thank the lord for that.

Have you tried to fail a vehicle with a split CV gaiter since the update? When you go through the rfr list and select Suspension, scroll down and you come to (5412) Driveshafts, if you select it and than select Constant Velocity Joints, you'll see a screen that shows " [7941] gaiter split", and " gaiter deteriorated" in itallics underneath as the advisory. However there is no button to click to fail it, just the button to find the relevant passage in the tester's manual (Man Ref 2.5), and the Advisory button. There is now another Driveshafts section, (5810) Driveshafts where you find the fail button. Crazy or what? I phoned Siemens as I hadn't scrolled down far enough to see the second Driveshafts column, and they told me where to look, apparently it's VOSA's fault.

Do you mean that you still scroll through the RfR lists ?
Why don't you type in the failure code number that is provided on the 'Top 100 failure codes' list that Siemens supplied just after Rollout was completed... It makes the life of a Tester much easier...
or it would if we had been given the list that they promised so long ago...
Yep, I too was confused by the missing failure items in the driveshaft section... But I found it when I jumped back to have a second look.

I'll not mention company names here but I was asked to quote for MOT repairs to a class VII van today that had failed at a well known local VTS. The failure listed rear leaf spring shackles N/S/R & O/S/R. I can't remember the actual wording but basicly play was found on the rear shackles. When I looked couldn't see any movement, so I tried my lever in it still no movement So I tried the otherside, no still couldn't find any play what-so-ever. I phoned the tester & asked what he had failed it on......... Wait for it..................... He couldn't find the actual item he was looking for on the drop down menus so he put in the nearest thing to it. It was the front end of the spring that had play
