Advanced warning
Just got crystal ball out again, I think we should all book a holiday for the first week (or two) of August.
August 1st will mean the usual test fee increase, and also the updated EGA database.
But this year, we will have the added bonus of the modified Partial Retest system. To allow this new system to function, Siemens will have to download software to each VTS during July, and it will need to be installed on the 1st August.
Far be it from me to sound a little sceptical, but I forsee major problems with Joe Public, NT's & VTS's getting used to the adjustments, but also perhaps the computer system may not cope either (judging on recent performance after scheduled updates)...

I know I should know the answer to this but. Is there any info available on the changes proposed for August?

So it looks as though the following are no longer free retest items:
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) warning Emissions (& possibly headlamp aim ?).
But this has now been included:
bonnet the list of lamps has been consolidated to 'all lamps' - not sure if Headlamp Aim falls into this category...

the list of lamps has been consolidated to 'all lamps' - not sure if Headlamp Aim falls into this category... This has been the subject of a few problems, as discussed on another thread. If a dipped beam headlamp bulb is out, you can't possibly test the headlamp aim, but if you fail the car for "Headlamp aim not tested", the system will not let you carry out a partial retest on minor items. VOSA should make it clear when you are supposed to use this failure criteria.
