Watched one of my testers register a test this afternoon. "M" reg Volvo 460 (FI CAT Lambda etc)
Got down to 2 choices at the bottom box - Blah Blah Blah - Default cat test Blah Blah Blah - None cat test
He clicked the Default cat test and printed off the V40 inspection sheet. What did it say? Apply None Cat Test standards.
One wonders if anything we put in all those boxes and drop downs makes any difference.

Same thing happened to me today on a Renault Clio, and last week on a Renault 19.

It would be handy if some cars had the engine code stamped on the VIN plate like BMW's, or in the VIN number like Peugeots and Rovers. VW's sometimes have the little sticker on the top of the cam belt cover, or in the boot on the white sticker. If you get a Renault, the same type of engine could have up to six or seven different codes, and none of them are visible. I think VOSA should tell all manufacturers to put engine codes somewhere where you can actually see it. How many times have you hunted for an engine code where it's supposed to be, and it's impossible to see or it's covered in rust (Vauxhalls)?

And all those times that there are about 10 options for the date in the drop down box. Half of them are impossible cos you cannot put a "T" plate on a 1996 car. Finish all your selections, low and behold the VSI knows the exact date...........

A little tip regarding engine codes...if you have one ! when you are faced with 86 choices of vehicle to choose from etc, select from the emission data one first using the engine code....you should find that this will take you down to 2 if not 1, without having to keep putting all the other info in first.
