Hi all,
During our training and switch on, I was told by trainer that vosa would visit 3 or 4 weeks later to check our calibration records and input our equipment and due dates.
That was around 4 weeks ago and I have heard nothing yet. Spoke to a few of my mates in my area who are also in the same boat. No equipment records or calibration dates entered yet. They were told the same thing. Most of these have been live a couple of months before me.
What is the proceedure for this, have you guys been told the same, how long till vosa arrived to carry this out.
I am now at the stage of thinking of inputing the info myself, but don't want to be ticked of by my vosa guy for "breaking the rules"
Any input appreciated.

I entered all my VTS equipment and calibration details weeks before we went live. I set all the VOSA & SBS records that didn't match the equipment I had at my VTS as 'WITHDRAWN' - They had set Smoke Meters as Gas analysers, and missed out other equipment altogether (Amateurs!)
When the VE came to visit, he came armed with a printout of the equipment list and just confirmed the calibration dates & serial numbers I had entered matched the certificates and serial numbers on the approved equipment.
If you feel you are competant to set your calibration details, I see no harm in doing so. The procedure is laid out in the manual.
Order a report of the equipment list the day before, though - You'll need to refer to the equipment ID numbers. Once you have updated the details, order another report to confirm everything is in order.

Entered ours myself too. If you look at the report of equipment list you should find they've given you a set of calibration dates for VOSA equipment. This is whats letting you test at moment. I went through it all withdrawing theyre stuff and entering ours. Came stuck with our new Tecalemit gas analyser/smoke meter. System didnt recognise it as a combined unit - I then couldnt carry out any tests CAT 0r Diesel. Problems didnt end there, system then wouldnt let me Activate the VOSA equipment again so had to get onto our VOSA man who came out and spent a half hour on phone before getting it sorted. In the end he entered our OLD analyser and OLD smoke meter with our NEW machines calibration dates and it's still the same today 5 months on.
So make sure your equipment is on theyre list before withdrawing all VOSA's stuff. Any doubt enter yours but leave theyres as well untill such time they check it over for you.

Hi all. The only equipment that appears on our list is the ones that were entered on the the original application forms back in March 2005. The most important thing is the equipment identification number that vosa/siemens assign to each piece of equipment at your vts without this number you cannot enter subsequent calibration renewals for that piece of equipment. I found the best way to obtain these numbers is to request a eqipment list for your vts through the system and keep a printout of the list with your calibration certificates, takes a day or two to come through via the message system.
Henry.

Thanks for the replies,
I think I will request an equipment list on Monday, see what it says, and take it from there. Hopefully all my equipment will be there.
Only thing that will have changed is I recently upgraded my bowmonk decelerometer to the digital unit.
My old meter was due for calibration, and bowmonk were doing a deal to trade in old unit for the new digital. Think the extra cost was about £150, but nice compact piece of kit, also comes with charging unit.
I will have to add my new unit, then if it shows up ok, remove the old one.
Thanks for the replies,
Gordon

Quick update, I requested an equipment list this morning, so hopefully I should get that tomorrow. But, I do not have any headings in the computer to add equipment or change calibration dates. These headings appear to be missing. I went back in through F5 training, and found them no problem, but they are not there when going in through normal route. I double checked with the computer manual, so I am in the right section, I think it was administration, but no headings for equipment or calibration? So it looks like this maybe gets turned on when vosa appear. Suppose I will just have to wait now, cannot get into trouble for not entering details if there is not the option to enter them ;D Gordon

But, I do not have any headings in the computer to add equipment or change calibration dates. These headings appear to be missing. Equipment management can only be carried out by the person who holds the roll of Site Manager or VTS Admin. So you might not be the site manager (you might be, but don't have the correct rolls set up). You need to find out who's who at your site (in Computerisation terms) and either let the actual SM do the calibrations or get someone to give you the relevant roll. Someone at your site should be able to run the reports AE Staff list and VTS Staff list which will show the rolls held. Or do as the wall chart issued in a previous SN and wait for the VOSA man turn up. -- Roger

Thanks for the reply roger.
I am the site manager, as I own the garage and also the only tester. Will check the roles tomorrow though, as what you say could be a possibility.
Cheers,
Gordon
