Well the "computer arrived today" - on the correct day!!!, but late in the day cos Parcel Farce had tried to loose it. ;D
As most here probably know a 15 year old designed printer ;D but surely the BIGGEST laugh is the modem. 14.4k That reminds me of my BB days in the late 80's early 90's - Slow, slow VERY VERY slow...

Even better, it's a 56k modem throttled to 14.4.
And have you tried to buy a 15" monitor lately?
What do you mean parcelforce tried to lose it? Is a Siemens engineer not fitting it for you?

Even better, it's a 56k modem throttled to 14.4. Even better it seems there may be a modem built into the VTS device, there certainly is a phone socket on the back of ours. Why the hell didn't they build in the modem and the smart card reader. Nearly impossible, I tried recently. I assume Siemens bought up all the UK's redundant stock...... Well that was his excuse for turning up late, he said he had to do a 40mile detour to collect it all from a parcel force depot cos it hadn't been sent to him. Graham

I think they stopped making 15" monitors due to lack of demand (when you can get a 17" for £50 + vat, why bother making 15" any more)
As of last week we got permission to set the modems to 28.8kbs. Yay! I think your "phone socket" may be the network socket.
As for Parcelforce, we fill up once a week, and get 18 sets of kit. A normal day we have 3 installs, but the parcelforce pickup counts as a job for that day.
