The snag with the printer is that you have to put the paper in and hold it square and push the paper down. If you hold the paper back as it feeds, the printing is all in the wrong place.
The documents have all been cut wrongly, too! The boxes are in different places on different forms.

There are rumours that all VTS's are to be issued with a new printer within 6 months.
Anyone know if there is any truth in it ? What printer do you think we'll get ?
Our Siemens installer told us that they supplied a dot matrix for security of documents. Apparently laser printers & inkjet printers can have their print 'lifted' off the paper. Dot matrix being an impact printer can't.

Initially, VOSA (the VI then) insisted on dot matrix printers in the spec for the security issues. As the actual MOT certificate is comprised of a few bits of data on the server and the certificate we hand over to customers is just a copy of that computer record, that appears not to be a priority anymore. Hopefully, we'll get an option on the type of printer we are supplied with so we can make a choice based on the cost of replacement ink cartridges/ribbons, and not have to buy them from Siemens.

Ink can be provided FREE from Siemens
If you order a replacement cartridge from them... (always keep the empty...)
If you return a used cartridge to them, whilst ordering a new on they will refund the costs
I think I saw this on a bulletin today, it was quite funny really as they insist its done in a military fashion... ;D if done wrong you get charged.
A. Return Empty Ribbon (not cartridge) B. Order NEW Ribbon C. Hope they get it right and dont charge you.
Ill try find the returns address unless somebody else knows of it ...
