Hi I have been trying to look at my vechicles status/history at www.motinfo.gov.uk/internet/servlet/ECSIDDispatcher and no matter how mant times i put in the correct details i get this message the DVLA V5C reference number does not exist or does not match the vehicle registration mark supplied tried two vehicles no luck. Is there something i am doing wrong? regards dcw

What V5C reference number are you using ? You should use the longer 11-digit one, the 'Document Reference Number' and not the shorter serial number. Also, the vehicle needs to have been tested under MOT Computerisation. Not all vehicles have had a computerised test, yet.

The answer is very simple. Its a DVLA/VOSA cockup.
They are using 2 different database's of reg number / V5 number. The VOSA database contains some NEW style V5 numbers and some of the OLD style V5 numbers.
I bet if you put in your reg number and old V5 number you will get a different result. How to find the old V5 number is a different matter......
