A discussion in a newsgroup has raised the question on the status of an MOT certificate. A vehicle has an MOT certificate. Shortly before the certificate is due to expire, another test is performed. The vehicle fails this test, and the tester notes in box C that 'this vehicle is dangerous to drive because...' One of the questions posed is whether the previous MOT certificate (yet to expire) remains valid. What do you think ? Link to the newsgroup message: uk.rec.driving: MOT Question

The existing MOT is still valid until it's expiry date. However, it is illegal to drive an unroadworthy vehicle - with or without an MOT.
