I don't know if this is a common fault on the Ford Courier, as I don't test many of them. It gives me the opportunity to try posting a photograph from my digital camera.

I'm seeing more and more broken springs - front and rear. Is it more speed bumps or the spring materials being "not as good as they used to be"?

I wish I'd knew what was going on with the springs. As today I've done 5 Mot's and 3 of the vehicles had broken front springs 2 were Renaults on the o/s/f and I had a Vauxhall with 2 front springs snapped

I didn't realise until recently, that coils springs can break when the vehicle is parked overnight. I think its caused moisture getting into a fracture & when its frosty the expansion of the water does its worst & bang!
I had evidence when I went out to a non starting Berlingo Diesel. The guy had parked it up the previouis evening & when he came out in the morning it wouldn't start & the hazard lights would come on every time the ignition was turned on. The offside front road spring had popped during the frosty night & the fuel cut off inertia switch had been sprung open.
Cheers!
