Hi all - bee a while since posting, not going to elongate this board but - as everyone keeps saying, drivers view of the road and not the bonnet or the sky...... so what do you assess - well this is an individual thing so first decide on swept area then what parts are the "drivers view of the road" as YOU the tester see it (hence the individual bit) then any damage seen from the drivers seat is measurable for the MOT pass or fail - all other damage is advise. you can try and nit pick by posting after this but this system remains as is till jan 2012 - so realy I think we are just biting at this, checkout the next years manual on the vosa website - lin www.mottesters.co.uk/files/special%20notices/MOT%20Inspection%20Manual.pdf - it is a download at this time. I hope this has cleared up what you guys are asking, remember the manual is not always particularly clear and you have to read every word and note the "and" "or" "either" in the lines of methods and requirements. cheers for now
