In need of some clarification 2012 changes to MOT regulations Though it’s best to ask the people in the know This has been going round the car forums bit is it real or rubbish as i can’t see any mention in the 2012 MOT manual? “.1.4 Compliance with requirements: (a) Lamp, emitted colour, position or intensity not in accordance with the requirements ( Products on lens or light source which obviously reduce light intensity or change emitted colour © Light source and lamp not compatible 4.1.5. Leveling devices (where mandatory): (a) Device not operating. Manual device cannot be operated from driver’s seat. 4.1.6 Headlamp cleaning device (where mandatory): Device not operating. 6.1.9 Engine performance: (a) Control unit illegal modified. (Illegal engine modification.)” Is the above going to be added or is it just rubbish Thanks for your help Richie

The first items you have listed have always been fails - they've changed the wording to make it clearer.
Headlamp leveling and cleaning devices will have to be fitted and working to Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps - no changes to halogen lights.
In regard to your final point, there is no way using the MOT approved equipment that we can check or test if the ECU has been modified. The only thing we test for are emissions so if a modified system passes the standard emission figures it's not a problem.
