I was asked to do a re-test on a Renault Clio that had failed a few days earlyer by my partner for play in steering,having put car on ramp i couldnt see any new parts or even 2nd hand fitted so on lowering the car i looked at lower column and found it had been welded,so i failed it again.the presenter siad i shouldnt have been looking there so was going to appeal ;D Attachments:

All for the price of a steering knuckle It isn't just what you advise above, but the joint could well now be too brittle and fracture, if total steering is lost out on the road at speed, forget the driver of the car if that person has done the repair, look at the innocent people around the vehicle that could be involved in an unnecessary accident and injured or worse? The day when each engineer gets a license to fix vehicles is the day to look forward to, then vehicles could be fixed to better standards and we get better paid
