Hi i have an old range rover and the mot is just up my question is does the mot light being on mean a failure. the light is always on when the car is first start but as soon as i start moving forward it turns off?

It has to follow the correct sequence of operation. Testers will refer to reliable data. If the reliable data states that the lamp only goes out after reaching 5mph (as per most Range Rovers) then that is the test criteria used.

The sequence of operation is detailed on the vt40 form when the tester registers the test,this infomation is taken from the vsi on vosa data base. hope this helps
