hiya,
i had my car MOT on Thursday a week early than planed as it had developed a knocking on the steering,we told the garage about the knocking they said they would check it all over. it failed at 1st it needed new brake pipes, anti roll bark link, new hand brake cable and 1 new tire, they said that the anti roll bar was coursing the knocking. we got it all fixed the next day and it passed.
when we where parking up we noticed that the knocking was still there, this was at 5 pm the garage had closed, so we tried to phone them on saturday no answer they where meant to be open, so we took a drive down it was closed grate. we have a baby and i am pregnant so i was not happy driving about with the knocking so decided to take it to kwik fit just in case it was dangerous.
left it with them whilst they took a look. they asked us to come back so they could show us what they had found. both inner and outer cv joint on drivers side gone (huge hole + leaking grease) should have failed on MOT, the passenger side coil was badly corroded and close to collapse which should have been a advisory, which they showed us, the new hand brake that the garage had fitted was the wrong part and stuck on, they other garage said that that the back brakes needed doing with in the next few months, so i asked kwik fit to do them, which then reveled that the driver side brake cylinder was damaged leaking fluid every where which should have failed on MOT and the passenger side was badly corroded and should have been a advisory.
was just wondering what i should do/say to original garage (kwik fit have kept all the damaged parts so that we can show them what they missed).
what is worrying me is that the original garage said our car was road worthy and missed obvious faults, which ment my car was unsafe to drive.
what would you do?
thanks
vicky
ok got the car back today was driving grate no knocking/banging (fab), but tonight whilst driving the banging is back, is it likely that the new drive shaft has broked again or do you think that the other one may have gone, going to take it back in the morning but feeling very annoyed at the thought of spending another £190 on the other side any advice would be appreciated.
thanks
