You worried me for a minute there Sam. I know you're not far from me!
Last week I failed a Meriva for having a CVJ boot adrift. Thing is...... I know I cocked up. I know merivas and Corsas have a hard boot, not a soft rubber one. there is a rib protruding from the inside of the boot If these boots come loose the rib wears down a bit and even with a new clip it comes off almost straight away. I have been looking at the recently changed RfRs and trying to decide if that rib is worn, does that make the boot "deteriorated" That RfR will tell the idiots in my reception and also the customer that the boot is faulty, and it's no good sticking a new clip on.
I was dithering between "insecure" or "deteriorated", wondering if I could justify "deteriorated" and decided eventually to play safe and go for "insecure", clicked where I saw the word and didn't realise till too late that I had failed the car for Joint insecure. An easy mistake to make at my level of senility.
Anyway car came back today with new clip on and boot hanging off!!! So being in a good mood I didn't log on and fail it, I sent it back for them to have another go. Then a couple of hours later it came back again, our own techs had fitted a new clip. And guess what!!!! Yep, the boot is still blowing in the breeze.
For f....sake will nobody fit a new boot!!!
(not in a good mood any more, had three "retests" today that weren't repaired. When the boss pops in and says just squeeze a fasttrack in between tests and you have to spend ages explaining to reception and the customer why you're not being an not a very nice person it puts you well behind with your day, and then you end up disappointing the next customer because his car isn't ready on time.)
