Admin: This can happen out on the road, when parked over night, or during an MOT test. The weakness is practically impossible to see - until after the spring has broken.

Admin: Coil springs snap in a similar way that ceramic tiles or glass is broken. They break across a weak point that is introduced through a small amount of corrosion - similar to scoring and snapping of tiles/glass.

Daveg: Springs can and do break without notice,it seems that if the spring broke due to corrosion advise could have been given, but if no corrosion present, no advise can be given.
